For the construction of two floors of the 785,000 sq.ft. Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children in Birmingham, AL, HKS Inc. specified custom sound-absorbent Claro® direct suspended ceiling panels. To address the challenge presented by the hospital’s curved interior walls panels were installed using custom-designed butterfly clips on a unique suspended ceiling grid from Decoustics. Strict precision during the engineering and design process was critical, as the slightest error would have thrown the ceiling off course and made it impossible for the panels to fit properly.
